How to Control Your Anxiety and Start Living Your Life

Are you letting fear wreck your life?

You could waste your entire life fretting about things that most likely will never occur.

What’s the price of your anxiety? You’ll wind up regretting not taking the necessary risks because you were preoccupied with things that most likely won’t ever happen.

Why?

Deep down, you understand that all of this is in your head. You are aware that you could conceivably quit giving a damn and begin living the life you were destined to live.

You can end your frustration by taking control of your anxiety instead of freezing in the most vital moments.

What can you do?

Listen to the advice of those who overcame the same struggles. Do your best to assess your unique situation and craft a story in your head that motivates you to take action.

Let’s look at some of the typical topics you tend to care about too much and some strategies to deal with those sentiments.

Self-perception overwhelms you.

You over-inflate the value of your actions.

You feel better about yourself when you achieve something constructive and admirable and worse when you make a mistake or do something you regret. This thought places too much value on the result and needs to be more on your behaviors.

Your actions do, in fact, reflect who you are. Your behavior is the best indicator of how you view the world and how you view yourself. However, the result of your actions doesn’t need to be written in stone.

Let’s say you make a terrible error. You shouldn’t simply brush it off. That error is a signal that something wasn’t quite right in your life at the moment of action. This should be a time for reflection and improvement.

Few mistakes are so grave you’ll never be able to move past them. Reflecting on your actions also doesn’t mean punishing yourself for the behavior. Simply understand the error and move on.

Try thinking like Tom Brady. The G.O.A.T. has thrown a lot of passes he’d like back. Some throws were intercepted, while others fell incomplete in crucial situations. So what does he do immediately afterward?

He goes to the sideline and looks at the video to see what he should have done differently. Was it a bad read? Maybe. Did the receiver miss their spot? Maybe. Is it over? Definitely.

What makes Brady great is his ability to shrug it off and throw a touchdown pass on the next possession. You can do the same thing in your life.

Ask yourself, “Is this who I have to be forever?” Learn to shrug it off.

You care too much about what other people think.

Everyone wants to be adored, revered, respected, and loved. Your behavior is mainly motivated by this urge. At the same time, though, you also realize that caring less about the thoughts of others would likely lead to a better outcome for you.

“Don’t let the noise of other people’s opinions drown out your own inner voice.” -Steve Jobs.

The less you care about other people’s opinions, the more confident you are in yourself. People are drawn to those who care less about what others think and ignore the noise.

Think about someone you admire. Do they do their own thing or worry about someone’s opinion?

Why does it matter what people think of you? You put forth your best effort. Who cares if not everyone notices? What’s the big deal?

Everyone has some level of neurosis and self-obsession. Stop beating yourself up over it and live your life.

The more you put yourself out there, the less you’ll care about what other people think.

You worry too much about life itself.

Most of us take everything too seriously. How much time have you wasted worrying about things that don’t matter – something you won’t give a damn about in a month, a week, or a year?

Life is too short to spend time worrying about every little thing. You are a tiny speck in the universe, and your existence is merely a flash in time. Why so stressed? Why not try doing whatever the hell you want and just be free?

Try relaxing your grip on the steering wheel for a minute and see what happens when you allow your energy to flow.

  • Stop stressing and start living.
  • Stop waiting and start trying.
  • Stop thinking and start doing.

These three changes in mindset are freedom. Break free from the limiting beliefs and opinions that are holding you back.

Let go and live!

Take care, even down there.
